- Dries and wears colour-trueWhat can Colorwash do that other colour systems can't?
Unlike alcohol Inks where top layers smudge the ink below, Colorwash is water-based, but dries highly water-resistant, so you can build colours without disturbing the previous layers.
This allows for some amazing colour effects previously unavailable to the Artist.
It's like painting in 3D!
So, it's either Ink or Colorwash?
No! We designed them so you get the advantages of both!
Put down some Ink, then paint Colorwash over the top. Want to change the ink? No problem! Alcohol will move the Ink but not the Colorwash!
The reverse is also true. Use Colorwash first, then paint with Ink. If you need, remove the Colorwash with Aquaclean, leaving the ink in place!
Example: You have to quickly turn-around a bruise on set.
In the trailer, create the second-look bruise in Colorwash, then add Inks over the top to create your first look of the day.
Time to change? Simply alcohol the Ink away and reveal your second-look Colorwash bruise like magic!Any other tips?
- Always use on clean, oily-free skin.
- Build colour with several thin layers, not one thick layer.
- Always seal Colorwash before applying Dark Arts bloods. We suggest a quick spritz of Satin Spray.
Colorwash will eventually fade if you use a lot of alcohol and rubbing.
The techniques mentioned here are are most suitable for sheer product application.
Always test for your specific requirements.
