Weathered and burnt
The brief was to create weathered skin. The performer's naturally pale skin tone suggested the degree of discolouration and the colour range used.
Step 1: Freckle Airbrush Spray Ink
Freckle was airbrushed in a patchy fashion, leaving large, pale skin tone blotches.
Step 2: Bisque Concentrated Fluid Ink
Bisque was mixed with alcohol to reduce opacity and allow the product to 'run' on the skin. Applied with an eye-dropper and quickly tissued off to intensify the pale blotches. Any harsh edges were softened with an alcohol-dipped cotton swab.
Step 3: Age Spot Concentrated Fluid Ink
Age Spot, mixed with alcohol and spattered and stippled on using a broad texture brush. The cooler brown of Age Spot helped to off-tone the blue-red to follow.
Step 4: Beetroot Airbrush Spray Ink
Beetroot was applied, first through an airbrush, then pumped using the spray cap for a little extra texture.
Step 5: Essentials Palette
Broad colour-work completed, detailing was done using the Essentials Palette. Blood Blister and Flushed deepened some areas, while Cooler was used to create contrast in the pale tones. These details were added with a fine round brush.
Step 6: Texture 5 Brush
We couldn't complete this makeup without our trusty Texture 5. Whilst it wasn't the only stipple brush we used, it's the biggest in Ve's range and the one we depended on most!
